Amway has been distributing products around the world for more than 50 years. The Amway corporation was established in 1959 by Jay Van Andel and Richard DeVos. They sell a range of different products, mainly in the health, beauty, and home care markets as well as Nutrilite dietary supplements, cosmetics, water purifiers, air purifiers, insurance, jewellery, electronics, and more.
It is very common for people to want the truth about an MLM company and its home business opportunity before investing in to them. Often companies are presented as being the panacea to people’s problems. Sometimes the opportunity seems too good to be true. So it is natural to question is the opportunity a scam or is the business opportunity real and do people actually make money from it.

Also I have never used any Amway products. But I have over 2 decades of experience running my own business that sold over £300 million or $500 million of products. Also I have been involved in opportunities in the network marketing business so I understand what the industry is about. With my experience I am able to see things that others are not able to see when they look a company and its opportunity at first.
In order to determine if something is a scam it is necessary to first look at the definition of scam. According to the Oxford English dictionary a scam is ‘a dishonest scheme; a fraud’. It is therefore necessary to understand a little more about Amway to explain why it isn’t a scam.
Amway is a privately owned company that has an annual turnover of over $11 billion and operate in over 100 countries around the world, they employs over 21000 employees and sell through over 4 million distributors. Forbes rank Amway as the 28th Largest Private Company in America. According to Dun & Bradstreet they have a credit rating of 5A1 which is the highest level. This means that they are worth over $50 million and they have the highest credit approval rating.
In the US in the late 1970’s the Amway Business model was challenged by the FTC. After 4 years of litigation it was ruled that Amway’s multilevel marketing program was a legitimate business opportunity as opposed to a pyramid scheme. Furthermore they have since legally operate within the laws of countries around the world. It would not be possible to run a business that is the size of Amway for over 50 years without complying with international corporate and tax requirements.
Amway have over 450 products in their range. With a range of products as large as this it is impossible to review all of them here. However these products are responsible for $11 billion of sales annually. And with the way that the Amway model works a lot of these products are bought over and over by people because many of the products are consumables such as toiletries and cosmetics.
What about the Amway Business Opportunity and Network Marketing compensation plan?
As I understand it costs $62 to register with Amway then there are a number of optional monthly costs that can add up to hundreds of dollars a month depending on how many of them you sign up for. But you need to realise you are running a business which costs money plus you need to educate yourself. If you had a franchise or a bricks and mortar business you would have overheads that would be much higher. The monthly costs should not put you off as long as you know it is possible to make money with an opportunity.

This happens by personally buying the Amway products for yourself and also selling the products to people you know; and getting a bonus of between 3 and 25 percent when your downline sells the products. The exact details of the plan is more complicated than this and you need to fully understand the monthly costs and the amount of money that you can make. You also need to be committed to succeeding.
From what I can understand the average monthly earnings in Amway is about $202. This number should only concern you if you intend on being average. Obviously there are people who make less money, there are some people who make nothing at all, but there are also people who make a lot of more money. If it is possible to make a lot of money then you should base your expectations on those people because they are the people who have made it happen. The people who didn’t succeed often don’t reveal their own failings and will blame the company, the product, their sponsor, their downline, etc. Running a network marketing company is not like having a job and requires commitment and dedication that many people don’t have.
I also looked at the number of people writing reviews about their experience with Amway and as expected I found many different views making it difficult to draw a conclusion on peoples overall opinion. With a company as large as Amway you would expect this especially when they have been around for 50 years.
So revisiting the original point of is Amway a Scam it is quite clear, once you get to understand more about the AMway corporation and also its products, you soon realise that the answer is NO, Amway is not a Scam. Amway is a solid network marketing business opportunity that has been around for many years that has allowed many people to make money.
