It never ceases to intrigues me when people ask me the question if an MLM company is a scam.

To decide if something is a scam is useful to have in mind the definition of a scam. A scam is defined by the Cambridge Dictionary as ‘an illegal plan for making money, especially one that involves tricking people’.

When it comes to Cutco and Vector Marketing the answer is definitely NO, it is not a scam. Just in case you are wondering I am not affiliated with Cutco or Vector Marketing in any way – I have not ever signed up to sell their opportunity and I have never bought any of their products. However I have the experience of setting up and running my own business that went on to do hundreds of millions of dollars of business over the time I was involved with it. Also I have been involved with companies in the MLM profession over a period of 25 years. With this experience I am able to look at a business opportunity in a way that allows me to see things that most people won’t see on the surface.

When people ask me a question such as ‘Is Cutco a scam’ this more often than not because of limited knowledge of the legal requirements that a business has operate within. If the Cutco business opportunity is actually an MLM opportunity the company also has to operate within an extra set of legal parameters in the US and in other countries around the world. Many people don’t realise this and will confuse a legitimate MLM opportunity with a pyramid scam. This happens because a lot of people who haven’t bothered to get to understand the laws that relate to MLM companies in the US, which date back to an FTC case in the late 1970. When people understand what is a legal business structure for a company, and they then compare this with Cutco and Vector Marketing they soon realise that the Cutco opportunity is offering real value to the market place and is a real home business opportunity.
